Italy – Aeolian Islands – Malta

Autumn Return.

As summer fades, Florette turns west and begins her long return through the heart of the Mediterranean. The sea shifts again. Winds pick up, ports grow quieter, and life on deck becomes sharper, steadier, and more alive.

Route

The voyage begins in Vibo Marina and moves through the Aeolian Islands, where Stromboli still smokes at sunset and the decks glow red at night. From there, Florette follows the coasts of Sicily and Calabria, stopping in wild anchorages where mountains meet the sea.

Each day moves at the pace of the sea, with time spent sailing, eating together, and noticing the gradual change in season. By late October, Florette arrives in Malta, completing the journey that began in spring.

It’s a quieter moment of the year to be at sea, marked by longer passages, clear light, and space to reflect.

Why This Route

This is the passage that ends the year. The winds are stronger, the routes longer, and the reward is the feeling that only comes from covering real distance. It’s for people who want to learn, to travel with purpose, and to see the Mediterranean as sailors once did, through changing light, shifting weather, and a sense of something bigger than themselves.
